Alaska is the largest and least populated state in the USA and is known as the world's last great frontier. It has magnificent scenery, amazing wildlife and excellent fly fishing for salmon, rainbow trout, steelhead, grayling and halibut. Martin Founds of Anglers World Holidays and top fly fisher, John Horsey, have explored some of the finest fresh, hard fighting salmon fishing on earth. Alaska will impress in every respect.

Alaska is renowned for its amazing salmon runs. Some river systems also receive good late summer runs of steelhead trout (rainbows that spend most of their life feeding in saltwater but return to freshwater to spawn late in the autumn). Chinook, chum, pink and coho (silver) salmon start to arrive in early summer and continue through the short summer months.

Seasons in the far northwest of the US can be extreme. The ideal time to visit, fish, tour and explore is July through into early September.

The uniquely located Silver Salmon Creek Lodge in Lake Clark has amazing runs of coho right through summer. Here you fly fish in a rare wilderness setting where the coastal brown bear (grizzly) is king. Great fishing and photo opportunities combined. Full board and fully guided packages but book early this small family owned lodge sells out fast.

Kodiak Island, located in the Gulf of Alaska, boasts one of the highest Brown bear concentrations in the world. Rohrer Bear Camp, situated in the heart of the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge is the perfect destination for wildlife viewing and has unsurpassed fishing for salmon, trout and char. Specialising in small groups the camp provides a fully guided wilderness experience for wildlife enthusiasts, photographers and sport fisherman.

With so much to see and do we seriously suggest extending your fly fishing trip by including not-to-be-missed attractions including; City breaks in Anchorage, self-drive tours to Seward, Exit Glacier, the scenic Kenai Peninsula, Alaska Rail Adventures from Anchorage to Talkeetna and Denali.
