Brygge 4-bedroom apartment

Torsvag is a very well managed fishing centre with an excellent fleet of 20 Arvor self-use boats and relatively sheltered fishing in this sought after region. From late May into early August the sun never sets and you enjoy 24 hours daylight. In September with a clear sky it is possible to enjoy great fishing and see the northern lights. These rich waters border the outer group of islands and have huge natural stocks of fish. Torsvag is open from the middle of March to mid October.

All apartments have Wi-Fi and there is a common gas barbecue and grill hut in the camp. Both apartments have one 23ft Arvor Deluxe boat.

A car is available for guests staying in the apartments which they can borrow for visiting the local shop. A nominal charge to cover fuel is paid locally. Please book with the camp prior to use.

Brygge - 4 bedroom apartment with private pier.
This luxury apartment is located across the harbour from the main Torsvag apartments and has a dining kitchen and lounge with television. There is a balcony with stunning views across the harbour. Each bedroom has one bed so the apartment will sleep 4 anglers. Boat included with this apartment is Yukon 700 Fish with Volvo Penta inboard D3 220HP.

Holiday durations are generally for 7 or 14 nights, Wednesday to Wednesday. However they are flexible; just avoid arriving on a Saturday or Sunday as ferry times are restricted.

Boats:
Torsvag have a fleet of Arvor 215 & 230 boats, all well maintained and regularly serviced. These boats feature quality Lowrance chart plotter and echo sounder, 100PS Turbo Diesel Volkswagen engine, cabin, rod holders, fish box and fish landing hook. Life jackets and safety gear are provided. Take your own freezer bags but polystyrene thermal boxes can be purchased for 150 NOK (about £14 that will easily hold 15kg of frozen fillets).

Please note at least one person in the group must have boat operation experience. If born after 1/1/1980 and operating a boat of 25hp and above he/she will be requested to supply an ICC, International Certificate of Competence. This must include coastal navigation to be valid in Norway.

Camp Facilities:
The camp has a large room for fish filleting and huge freezer room, the best we have seen! There is an information centre and tackle shop where you can hire tackle and get excellent fishing information. Water charts are supplied and diesel is available on-site, serviced by camp staff. The camp has a comfortable lounge / dining room where breakfast, lunch and dinner can be booked with notice, requires a minimum of 6 people.
A grocery store is nearby that offers free delivery or pick up. It is possible to rent a car to go to the shop for groceries - book and pay for locally.

Access:
Fly to Tromso via Oslo and either hire a car or take the pre-organised road and ferry transfer to the lodge. (There is a short ferry crossing from Hansnes to Vannoy, sails at two hourly intervals most days). Car rental is simple; turn right out of the airport, over the bridge, turn right and head out on the 863 road to Hansnes a one hour easy drive. The ferry from Hansnes to Vannoy takes 50 minutes and has a comfortable lounge, cafeteria and toilets. Head off the ferry turn left and in 20 minutes you arrive at Torsvag Fishing Centre, it couldn't be easier or more scenic. You can shop at the major shopping centre close to the airport, at Hansnes or close to Torsvag.

Fishing:
There are three prime seasons. Huge Barents Sea cod arrive March and remain until late April. This is the time to target those 40 to 100 monster cod. They can be caught as close at 500 metres to the harbour. Lots of shallow areas create the perfect feeding and spawning grounds without the need to travel any great distance.
May to late September is the ideal time to enjoy longer days (and nights under the midnight sun late May to early August). You will find excellent and prolific sport for cod, halibut, bigger coalfish, haddock, wolf fish and red fish at this time of year. Big coalfish in the 20 to 40lb range are caught here in summer. Expect cod into the 20, 30, 40 and 50lb class. Halibut are common from 10 to 100lb plus and fish in the 200lb range are caught each season and often released.
September to mid-October is absolute prime for most species but particularly those big halibut.

Best halibut – 426lbs; best cod - 76lbs; best coalfish (measured not weighed and released estimated at over 50lbs!)
