Fraser sturgeon, salmon and steelhead

Sturgeon........Reaching weights in excess of 1000 pounds, these hard fighting sporting fish average 30 to 200 pounds. 300 to 400 pound fish are caught with reasonable frequency and Marc has had three 800 pound plus to his boat. It's never easy to say how many one can expect to hook and land, but on a good day's fishing there are usually 15 to 20 fish hooked per boat per day. These sturgeon fight deep and hard and they are extremely acrobatic often leaping clear of the surface. All sturgeon fishing is catch and release.

April/May can be good providing the river is not carrying too much snow melt. June to September generally excellent with lovely warm to hot days of sunshine. October is excellent with bright warm days changing to cool nights and mornings. November is big, big fish time with the weather cooling down, but still great fishing. Marc Laynes operates Cascade Fishing Adventures and he has the best guides and boats on the Fraser providing a professional service for our clients. We offer all transfers from Vancouver Airport, a choice of hotels in Chilliwack and fully guided fishing with all tackle and bait.

Steelhead/Salmon

Winter steelhead fishing on the fly can be most rewarding, particularly in the months of March/April. We fish the smaller tributaries, there is some effort in accessing sections of prime water and we limit numbers to just 2 anglers per guide. Neoprene chest waders are essential and weather can range from cool to cold. It may rain or you may be rewarded with bright, crisp sunny days. Your surroundings will be stunningly scenic and there's always the chance of a double figure steelhead. All 5 species of Pacific Salmon run the Fraser and its tributaries. Lure and bait fishing is prime from July onwards. October produces good fly fishing sport for Coho and Chinook.
