Ansnes and Grefsnesvågen Fishing Centre

Location

There are two fishing centres - both on the island of Hitra (Angelamfi Ansnes to the north and Angelamfi Grefsnesvagen to the west). The centres are around 120km from Trondheim.

Getting there

Trondheim is your starting point. There are several ferry departures each day from Trondheim to Sandstad on Hitra and we can arrange private transfers from there to your fishing centre.

Accommodation

Angelamfi Ansnes has 9 high quality apartments which will accommodate from 4 to 8 persons. Each apartment has a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, lounge with TV and bathroom/toilet. A terrace gives views over the sea from each apartment. Angelamfi Grefsnesvagen has a total of 21 fishing lodges and apartments which will house from 2 to 12. Each of the units have TV, DVD, fully equipped kitchen, dining area, lounge and 1 to 3 bedrooms with single or bunk beds. The bedrooms in the lodges are all en-suite and each apartment has one or two bathrooms, depending on the size. There is access to a large terrace overlooking the bay.

The Fishing

Hitra is best known for its numerous deep-sea plateaus providing the perfect habitat for ling, torsk and halibut. The fishing marks near Ansnes are exceptionally good for cod, coalfish, redfish and haddock and provide a starting point for the deep water ling and torsk fishing. Grefnesvagen is on the fish-rich Froyfjorden, well known for its quality pollack as well as abundant cod, torsk etc and a good chance of monkfish, halibut and redfish. Local information is readily available and it is possible to hire a guide. Charter boat fishing is available on the MS Ansnes. Hitra has several hundred freshwater lakes and trout fishing is possible (April, May and September are the best months).

Shops/Facilities

Fillan is the main community and has shops, medical centre, pharmacy, petrol station, off-license and restaurants. Fillan is 15 minutes from Ansnes or 30 minutes from Grefsnesvagen. There is also a grocery store, restaurant and bar at Kvenvaer, a small village 5 minutes by car (15 minutes by boat) from Grefsnesvagen. Each resort has a fish gutting and cleaning room, freezer facilities and laundry room with washing machine and tumble drier. Grefsnesvagen has an outdoor bathing facility with sauna, jaccuzi and hot-tub.
