Trent Severn
The vast interconnecting lakes and rivers of the Trent Severn System flow through the scenically stunning Kawartha Lakeland. The ‘Land of Shining Waters’ here are wonderful still waters and rivers where the carp fishing is at its best and only an hour and a half or so from Toronto Airport. Chris Tarrant, Des Taylor, Mick Gee and Bob Nudd have all fished with us here and they have all enjoyed stunning fishing.
Within a couple of hours drive you can find scenic swims, uncrowded waters to explore and excellent accommodation bases ranging from a fully guided lodge to waterside self catering cottages.
Anglers do not have to be carp specialists to get the most out of the prolific carp fishing here in Eastern Canada. We have top local guides to supply the latest information and advice, or there is the option of joining one of Mick Gee’s guided trips. Situated in the heart of the most beautiful Kawartha Lakes and only a 90 minute drive from Toronto City. Its not hard to see why British Owners Mike and Eileen Williams of Lakeside Cottages have won two awards for their outstanding customer service and tourism hospitality - one of the many reasons why so many of their guests return year after year.
A superb carp fishing and family fishing/holiday resort perfectly located right on the shores of a highly productive and scenic lake. The owner, Mike Williams is on hand to provide expert advice. There are plenty of carp in the teens and twenties with a number of thirties caught each summer. A 33lb common came off the lawns recently. Mike will show you the best fishing spots.
Lake Katchewanooka is where Mike & Eileen Williams have their top quality Award Winning Resort and close to the village of Lakefield you can even walk into the village for your morning Tim's coffee with all the cottages facing the lake and only casing distance from your cottage door step all very well equipped inside and outside with larger BBQ's for cooking some of those big Canadian steaks on. Wildlife around the resort includes chipmunk, bald eagle, osprey and blue heron.
Mike is originally from Manchester England and has 45 years of angling experience, 17 years in Canada . Mike's advice is top class and you will get an honest answer with all you fishing questions, he knows all the best swims and has caught carp to 41lb , bigger ones are there to be landed. Excellent on site fishing with literally dozens of great fishing venues within a short drive.

Full bathrooms with shower (except one cottage which has a small bath tub with shower). The lounge area has fitted carpets, dining area and local channel TV.
Mary's Cottage

A spacious cottage right on the river just a mile south of Lakefield on the Old River Road. This scenic route follows the Otanabee River (The Trent/Severn System) and your accommodation is just a few yards from stunning fishing for big, wild carp. Mostly commons but a fair sprinkling of mirror carp too. 20 pounder's are common, 30's, 40's and bigger are there to be caught. Excellent shops, beer store, liquor store, bars and restaurants in Lakefield and Peterborough which also has a tackle shop.
There are two twin beds in the cottage (linen supplied), bathroom, fully equipped kitchen with combined dining area/lounge with satellite TV. Laundry room, tackle storage and private sun deck with barbecue. Bait can be pre ordered.
B&B for 3 at the quaint River House next door. This is a loft room, spacious with 3 beds and a small kitchen area with fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee pot. There is an en-suite bathroom with shower, toilet and wash basin. Breakfast is served in the dining room or garden if preferred and there is a choice of continental or cooked breakfast. This is a home from home family accommodation, lovely people, nice location.
A group of 6/7 could combine in the two properties.
