Skjervoy is the best sea fishing centre in north Norway and is available to UK anglers exclusively through Anglers World Holidays. The town has two supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, bars and a tackle shop for all your needs - all surrounding a scenic harbor.

The catch rates in Skjervoy just get better and better with potential to catch huge cod in March/April. From May to September the fishing is exceptional as the fjord warms and more food/baitfish move in attracting vast numbers of predators.

In Skjervoy here's always fish around, early on they shoal up more tightly but as summer progresses the fishing improves as more fish shoals move in and are more evenly distributed. In Skjervoy you fish relatively sheltered waters, targeting underwater features around 40 to 70 meters in depth. It's boat drift fishing, covering quite a bit of ground each drift. Big cod are in abundance with doubles and twenties common, 30 and 40lb are caught most weeks and there's the chance of much bigger.

The halibut fishing is exceptional, usually producing bigger numbers from August onwards but in 2008 the halibut turned up in numbers in April!

March, April and September are bargain months with huge discounts on the high season prices. Weather can be variable but there are many good weather days and the fishing at this time for big cod, wolfish and halibut can be excellent. We suggest hiring the Arvor boats at this time of year as they have a cabin for shelter.

In September the big coalfish are around and the halibut and cod fishing is still very good. High summer is May to August with daylight hours at their longest, 24 hours of daylight with the potential to fish right around the clock. The unique experience of fishing in the daylight hours of nighttime are usually the best, the sea generally flattens right out and fish feed on the shallower marks.

Access

You have the choice of fast or cruise ferries from Tromso or a private minibus/coach for groups of 4 plus. Flight times will dictate to some degree. SAS flights from Heathrow connect with the fast ferry transfer which takes only 2 hours..  Cost approx £70pp return, special family fares available. Departs Tromso 1600 and returns from Skjervoy at 0745 hours.

. Alternatively clients have the choice of SAS or Norwegian flights arriving later that require private mini coach transfers, approx 4 hours duration.

Accommodation

Skjervoy fiskcamp comprises 3 apartments each sleeping 4 persons in 2 twin bedrooms. 1 apartment with 3 twin bedded rooms sleeping 6 persons. 8 cabins each with 2 bedrooms and a total of 6 beds (4 lower 2 upper). All include heating, linen, towels and final cleaning (but you should leave the property as you found it). Fitted kitchen with all facilities for self catering, microwave, cooker, fridge/freezer, electric kettle. TV lounge with combined dining/kitchen area. Spacious bathroom. The town centre is 5 minute by boat, 12 minutes walk or 3 minutes by taxi. Fish cleaning room, freezer room, tackle storage on site. Rod/reel hire possible.

Self Use Boats

18 foot Fjordfangst aluminum boats, comfortably fits 2 to 4 anglers. 40/50hp outboards, fast and sturdy, will cruise at 40 kph. Perfect for May to September fjord fishing. Arvor boats are 215 models with inboard diesel. Ideal for mid March to late September fishing for up to 5 anglers. New for 2012 large extremely seaworthy Aluminium boat with cabin, 23 feet. Ample for 4 anglers but will fish 5. More spacious and stable than the Arvors.
