The towns and villages of Co. Offaly:

Banagher

There is very accessible fishing on the Shannon network at such famous spots as Meelick Weir, Bullock Island, Salmon Run and for a more restful session you can try the Grand Canal. There are spring and autumn angling festivals that have exposed the brilliant sport to be had with prime roach, hybrids, specimen tench and big bream.

Edenderry

Canal fishing in Ireland is on the picturesque reed fringed Grand Canal, most of which is accessible by car - and full of fish. Around Edenderry you will find the waterway is alive with tench, bream, rudd, perch and increasing numbers of roach and small carp.

Shannonbridge

This small town, which sits astride the River Shannon, has plenty of quality fishing and some exciting backwaters. It is a sensible central base for those anglers who enjoy exploring a number of waters.

Shannon Harbour

Shannon Harbour has exciting fishing on the Shannon, several backwaters and the Brosna River, plus an interesting section of the Grand Canal.
