Sail from Belturbet

From our base at Belturbet on the shores of the River Erne you can explore the marvellous labyrinth of waters and islands of the Upper Lough Erne and Lower Lough Erne. This is an angling paradise and there are numerous moorings to indulge your pleasure or to simply relax and soak up the peace and tranquility of these magical surroundings.

Sail from Carrick-on-Shannon

A lively town with a population of around 2,500. It is the largest cruising centre in Ireland and on the doorstep of fantastic fishing for a whole range of quality fish. Up river you can choose to enter the Shannon-Erne waterway and its network of lakes, or sail towards Boyle and through Drumharlow Lake, which is noted for its specimen roach and bream. Downstream of the marina brings the renowned ‘Inner Lake’ (Kilglass, Black and Graney) into play for superb tench, roach, bream and rudd.

Sail from Portumna

Situated at the northern end of Lough Derg, where visiting boats can drop anchor and moor in safety at the marina in Portumna Bay. It is also a cruiser base and the town itself is just a few minutes walk away. There is excellent fishing for bream, roach, hybrids and tench, either upstream to Banagher and Shannon Harbour, or down river on to the vast waters of Lough Derg where the fish run really big.

Cruising Ireland…

On the Erne in summer, you should catch wherever you go. On light tackle you can expect a roach a throw - usually on the drop. Put a bit of weight on, feed on the bottom and you should find you’re into nice 3-4lb bream for the day. To be sure, when you’ve found your good looking swim (and what better way to look than from on the water yourself), do a bit of pre-baiting, get moored up then check out the locals. Next day, tackle up and fish. No problem! And when you’ve had your fill, simply move on to the next likely spot.

The Shannon is different - the bream are a lot bigger! 8 pounders are common and they move around in huge shoals, so get it right and with fish this size big weights should be easy. As on the Erne, it’s best to find a likely spot first and then pre-bait it for the following day. And while you’re waiting, you can explore in style and comfort.
