Arkansas
Over twice the size of England with a population under 3 million, Arkansas is a richly forested land with rolling hills, clear lakes and impressive rivers and streams. Rich in colonial history this State is one of the friendliest in America. The Southern people are renowned for their hospitality and warm welcome. Summers are hot and winters generally pleasant. Fishing is a year round pastime here with April to late October being excellent months.
Flights arrive into the characterful city of Little Rock with its vibrant bars, fine hotels and restaurants. This easy to explore city is well worth a few days extension to your holiday. The Bill Clinton Library is a must see attraction.
Your first nights accommodation in Arkansas will be at one of our preferred hotels, The Holiday Inn Presidential, close to the main highway and downtown Little Rock is ideal. Good value hotels close to the airport are also available. We offer a variety of holiday options from luxury spa resorts to comfortable, rustic lakeside cottages and friendly hotels all close to excellent fishing.
RV RENTAL. With Chicot Lake in mind you may choose to hire an RV motorhome. Chicot has excellent camping and RV facilities with great fishing on site. This will give you the opportunity to enjoy good value accommodation and the combined opportunity to tour. A range of RV vehicles is on offer.
Fishing
Our first visit produced Grass Carp to 41 pounds and all our research team of John Wilson, Chris Tarrant and Frank Cooper enjoyed personal bests. With further development trips taking place on this new destination we hope to assess the other carp species of Commons, Big Head and Buffalo. On our first visit we barely scratched the surface, Arkansas has amazing potential as time will tell.
Britain realistically has three freshwater species than can exceed 40 pounds in weight, Arkansas has 12! 7 of which are members of the carp family.
Do remember that 99.9% of Arkansas anglers fish for sports fish and do not target carp. Most carp are caught by accident! We can obtain fishing licenses in advance, from £11 to £20 depending on species and duration.
Species
Common Carp, Silver Carp, Mirror Carp, Grass Carp, Catfish, Bass and Alligator Gars. Striped Bass offer great sport on Ouichita Lake and in mid state there are some excellent trout rivers.

Chicot Lake And Park
About 2 hours drive south of Little Rock, this 5300 acre lake offers huge potential. The size of Lock Ness this 20 mile long lake is the largest natural lake in Arkansas and the largest oxbow lake in the USA. You will find 5 carp species and 3 catfish species in this scenic waterway which was originally part of the Mississippi River.
Chicot has the potential to produce five different species well in excess of 50 pounds! We feel it has record Common, Buffalo and Grass Carp in addition to flathead and blue catfish. Good bank fishing but we recommend boat hire for access, feeding and fishing.
Accommodation
1 and 2 bedroom chalets in a lovely park close to Chicot Lake (a short walk). Each chalet is heated, air conditioned with lounge, 1 or 2 double bedrooms, large bathroom and fitted kitchen/dining area. They are modern and well furnished. Multi channel TV. Boats can be hired on site (subject to availability). Chicot State Park hasd excellent camping and RV facilities ideal for clients seeking to hire RV/Motor Homes.

Guided Fishing
Optional Guided fishing with Captain Jerry Bean for carp and striped bass. Striped bass can reach weights of 70 pounds in a number of highly productive lakes. Jerry Bean is a top fishing guide and great character.
