Fishing in Herkingen
Big waters surround this island, rich farmland, much only reclaimed from the sea some 18 years ago. Prolific food chain. Huge head of quality coarse fish, Bream to 15 pounds, Ide, hybrids, roach, perch, landlocked mullet…
Big carp to 50lb plus. Huge pike to 44 lb plus (recent record pike of 28 kilos!!??). Great potential for specimen anglers.
With easy access by road, also some exclusive locations with boat access, lots of good fishing places.. suits the pleasure angler in search of new and excellent waters, plus match fishing.
Good fishing from April to October inclusive….Wider season for pike and carp.
Pre-bait and these huge waters offer limitless potential. They suit pole, feeder and waggler methods for coarse fish.Use plenty of particle - boiled wheat is excellent, easy to transport and cheap in bulk.
Big carp are to be found in these waters and pre-baiting with particle and boilies, 3 to 5 carp per angler per day with fish into the 20 kilo range can be expected on a good day.
Middleharnis is a larger town with bars, restaurants and shops.

Holiday Centre
Herkingen
Individually owned and furnished chalets in a quiet and peaceful location just 300 metres walk from the small village. Chalets include heating and linen. Each has 3 bedrooms (one upstairs 2 ground level). Compact, comfortable and well furnished. Bedrooms vary, some have twin beds, some doubles, some bunk beds so do check at time of booking. Ideal for 3 to 4 anglers. The manager, Koen, lives on site.
Small canals and the big expanses of Herrinvliet and Volkerag are within a short drive. Excellent centre for serious and family fishing holidays. Pleasant walks and bicycle hire for families.
The main centre has a reception. (note a 50 Euro breakage deposit will be collected and refunded in resort).
Nature walks and cycling.
Ideal for max of 4 anglers per chalet although they can sleep up to 6 for families.
Linen, heating cleaning are all included.
This excellent value centre is situated beside a huge lake and the pretty village with shops, bars and restaurants and marina is within easy walking distance.

Suijssenwaerde, Oude Tonge, small village with shop, bakers, bar and restaurant. Neiw Tonge is a 7 minute drive.
NEW HOUSES at Oude Tonge. On the water with excellent coarse fishing right outside your property. Good standards of accommodation for small groups and families. There are selection of modern semi and detached houses right on the water with bream, hybrids, roach and carp. Properties are modern and very well furnished with 2 , 3 and 4 bedrooms. Note these are individually owned and furnished. Bedrooms can have double, single, twin and bunk beds. Check at time of booking. 3 to 4 male anglers can be comfortably accommodated. Larger groups should have 2 or more chalets.
The pretty village of Oude Tonge has a bakers, shops, bars and restaurants. Big water fishing and small canals all close by.
Regular location for Mick Gee and his escorted groups.. Mick's latest trip in August produced bream to almost 8 pounds and hybrids over 6 pounds. Great fishing on the big waters of the Volkerac and Herringvleet. Big waters need time to produce, but get the feed in and fish it consistently and you will catch big!!.
